Yesterday was the celebration of America’s 250-year birthday. I was raised with these ideals as the standard to live by. The phrase “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” specifically drew from Greek philosophy. But the ancient Greeks had two words for happiness. Hedonia is about pursuing pleasure. Eudaimonia is based on finding meaning in life, leading to self-realization. But what is “self”?
